Anxiety

Most people experience anxiety at some time in their life. Your parents, friends, teachers, favourite actor, singer, football player will all have had feelings of anxiety at some point in their life.

For most it is usually in response to a stressful situation. Taking an exam, going for an interview, meeting a tight deadline, having an argument with someone, going somewhere new or meeting someone for the first time. It is a period of unease that we all have felt at some point in our lives.

Anxiety is a natural in-built response to situations we have been born with to help keep us safe in potentially dangerous situations.

However, anxiety disorders differ from normal feelings of anxiety in that :

  • It is more severe
  • It is long lasting
  • It interferes with a person’s work and/or relationships

These feelings of anxiety can manifest themselves in a variety of physical, psychological and behavioural ways.

Our training courses can help you understand the difference between anxiety and anxiety disorders and how to spot the signs to help someone get the help they need.
